Quick answer: plan a Spain parcel in three layers
A useful Spain shipping estimate separates the parcel, the live route and the destination charges. First record the final packed weight and outside dimensions. Then compare only the Hipobuy services currently offered for the exact Spanish postcode, including chargeable-weight rules, restrictions, tracking and delivery estimates. Finally review whether the displayed total includes import VAT, the temporary low-value customs duty or carrier handling. The Hipo Sheets calculator provides a planning range and does not read live Hipobuy prices or add taxes and duties.
1. Finish product and QC checks before parcel submission
Confirm every item, selected colour and size, visible condition, measurements and any QC detail that matters before international shipping. Keep an item outside the parcel if it still needs clarification. Save the product links and QC photos so the parcel contents can be matched with the declaration and final quote later.
2. Compare physical, volumetric and chargeable weight
Use the latest packed weight rather than adding old product estimates. Measure the outside length, width and height after boxes and protection are chosen. A route may compare physical weight with volumetric weight and charge the higher result, then apply its own divisor, rounding or minimum charge. Test both 6000 and 5000 in the calculator as planning scenarios, but use the live route calculation before payment.
3. Compare only routes available for the exact Spanish destination
Route availability can vary with postcode, parcel size, item category and current carrier conditions. Compare the live service name, tracking coverage, delivery estimate, chargeable weight, maximum dimensions, restricted-item notes, compensation terms and final total. Do not choose from an old screenshot or assume that a line offered to another European country is also available to Spain.
4. Enter the Spanish address and five-digit postcode carefully
Check the recipient name, street type and street name, building number, block, stairway, floor or door when applicable, five-digit postcode, locality, province, Spain and a current phone number. Preserve apartment details instead of forcing everything into one line. The live checkout format is the final reference, and the postcode must match the locality and province.
5. Decide packaging before trusting the estimate
Shoe boxes, structured jackets and protective materials can increase parcel volume even when scale weight changes little. Compare the value of original packaging with the possible dimensional-weight increase. After any rehearsal or repacking option, wait for the updated packed measurements and rerun the estimate before selecting a route.
6. Check VAT and who will collect it
The Spanish Tax Agency states that goods bought online and sent from outside the European Union are subject to import VAT. For eligible consignments up to €150, an IOSS arrangement may allow the platform or seller to collect VAT at checkout. If VAT and handling are not clearly included, the carrier may request payment before delivery. Read the current purchase terms and keep the invoice rather than assuming that a euro price or a .es website means the parcel ships from inside the EU.
7. Account for the temporary €3 low-value customs duty
From 1 July 2026, the European Union applies a temporary €3 customs duty to distance-sale imports with a value up to €150. It is calculated per tariff-classified item category, not simply per parcel or physical unit: for example, several T-shirts under one classification can represent one €3 item, while a T-shirt and a watch can represent two. Whether the amount is already included depends on the seller, platform and declaration arrangement, so check the live terms and final quote. Parcels above €150 follow the applicable product-specific customs treatment instead of this low-value flat duty.
8. Treat the Canary Islands, Ceuta and Melilla as separate cases
Do not apply a mainland or Balearic estimate automatically to every Spanish territory. Spanish Tax Agency guidance says Canary Islands imports require customs formalities and can involve IGIC; the temporary €3 duty applies there to qualifying goods imported from outside the EU. Ceuta and Melilla also require customs formalities, but the agency's June 2026 low-value guidance says the €3 duty is not charged there. Confirm the exact postcode, territory, route and current local tax treatment before payment.
9. Use the correct product classification and value
Customs treatment depends on what the goods actually are. The EU Combined Nomenclature uses eight-digit CN codes, and Access2Markets can show tariffs and import requirements for a product moving from an origin country to Spain. Keep accurate product descriptions, quantities, paid values and shipping records. Do not lower a declared value or use a vague description to try to change the charge.
10. Save the quote, invoice and parcel evidence
Keep the invoice, payment proof, product links, selected variants, QC photos, parcel contents, packed weight, dimensions, packaging choices, service name, tracking details and final quote. Spanish Tax Agency guidance notes that purchase evidence can be requested after delivery, so retaining a complete record is useful for both customs questions and any later support case.

Destination FAQ
Common Spain shipping questions
How much is Hipobuy shipping to Spain?
There is no single fixed Spain price. The live total can change with packed weight, dimensions, chargeable-weight rules, postcode, route, service level, item restrictions and current surcharges. Use the calculator for a planning range, then confirm the live Hipobuy quote before payment.
Does the Hipo Sheets estimate include Spanish VAT or customs duty?
No. The calculator does not read a live route and does not add Spanish VAT, customs duty, carrier handling or territory-specific charges. Check what the seller or platform has already collected and what the carrier may collect before delivery.
Do parcels worth €150 or less still pay customs duty in Spain in 2026?
For qualifying distance-sale imports from outside the EU, a temporary €3 customs duty has applied since 1 July 2026. It is calculated per tariff-classified item category rather than per parcel or unit. Review the current Spanish Tax Agency and European Commission guidance for the actual shipment.
Are the Canary Islands handled the same as mainland Spain?
No. The Canary Islands have separate customs formalities and IGIC considerations. Ceuta and Melilla also have distinct treatment. Confirm the exact destination territory and current official guidance instead of reusing a mainland estimate.
What address details should I check for a parcel to Spain?
Check the recipient name, street and number, apartment or floor details where needed, five-digit postcode, locality, province, country and current phone number. Make sure the postcode matches the locality and use the format requested by the live checkout.
