Quick answer: estimate Slovakia shipping from the packed parcel
A useful Slovakia estimate starts with final packed weight and outside dimensions, then compares only the Hipobuy routes currently offered for the exact postcode and item set. Keep Slovak import VAT, the temporary EU low-value customs duty and any carrier or postal declaration fee separate from the international shipping quote unless the live transaction explicitly includes them. Hipo Sheets provides a planning range and cannot read current Hipobuy prices or calculate Slovak import charges.
1. Finish product, QC and legality checks first
Confirm every selected item, colour, size, quantity, visible condition and measurement before international shipping. Resolve a return or exchange before building the parcel. Check whether the actual goods can lawfully enter Slovakia and whether the selected route accepts them. A seller listing or shopping-platform link does not establish that an item is lawful or eligible for a particular carrier.
2. Use packed weight and outside dimensions
Product-level weights are only early inputs. Use the newest packed physical weight and measure the outside length, width and height after boxes, protection and consolidation are chosen. A route can compare physical and volumetric weight, apply its own divisor or rounding rule and charge the higher result. Use rehearsal packaging when appropriate, then confirm the current route calculation before payment.
3. Compare only live routes offered to Slovakia
Route availability can change with the five-digit postcode, parcel size, weight, product attributes and carrier conditions. Compare the current service name, tracking coverage, delivery estimate, chargeable-weight method, maximum dimensions, restrictions, compensation terms and final total. Do not reuse a Czech, Polish or Hungarian route list or assume an older Slovakia quote is still available.
4. Check the address and XXX XX postcode
Slovak postcodes contain five digits and are normally displayed as three digits, a space and two digits. Confirm the recipient name, street and house number, building, floor or apartment detail where needed, postcode, municipality or delivery-office locality and Slovakia. Enter a current phone number separately when checkout requests contact details, and verify the postcode and locality combination.
5. Decide packaging before trusting the quote
Shoe boxes, structured bags, padded jackets and protective materials can raise parcel volume without a similar increase in scale weight. Compare the protection value of each box with the possible dimensional-weight effect. If items, packaging or compression choices change after rehearsal, obtain or confirm updated packed measurements before comparing the final routes.
6. Check Slovakia's current VAT rate for the actual goods
Slovakia's standard VAT rate is 23%, while 19% and 5% apply only to listed goods and supplies. The collection method also matters: imported goods for which VAT is declared and paid under the special import arrangement in section 68cb use the 23% rate even when the same type of goods might otherwise appear on a reduced-rate list. Check the product classification, invoice and whether the transaction uses IOSS, section 68cb or the standard import procedure.
7. Treat IOSS as a verified VAT record
For an eligible B2C distance sale of non-excise goods dispatched from outside the EU in a consignment with an intrinsic value not exceeding EUR 150, an IOSS seller or platform may charge destination VAT at purchase. The corresponding import VAT exemption applies only when a valid IOSS VAT identification number is included in the customs declaration. IOSS does not remove the temporary EUR 3 duty or a carrier service fee. Save the invoice and tax evidence; never invent or alter an IOSS number.
8. Account for the temporary EUR 3 low-value customs duty
From 1 July 2026 until 1 July 2028, EU law generally applies a temporary EUR 3 customs duty per declared item to distance-sale consignments with a total intrinsic value not exceeding EUR 150. An item means one or more goods sharing the same tariff classification, description and, where the declaration data require it, origin; current systems apply the duty per declaration line regardless of quantity. Identical goods properly grouped on one line can therefore attract EUR 3, while unlike goods or separate lines can create additional EUR 3 amounts. The duty generally applies with IOSS, Special Arrangements and standard import VAT, but qualifying preferential-trade or customs-union goods declared in H1 without IOSS can be treated differently. It is not a once-per-parcel fee.
9. Apply Slovenská pošta's LVC fees only to its service
The Slovenská pošta tariff reviewed on 30 July 2026 lists EUR 3.20 for an automated Level III low-value declaration and EUR 5.00 for a Level II declaration requiring manual data completion, correction or customs intervention. Its EUR 3.20 PCS presentation and storage service is a separate line, but the tariff says it is included when Slovenská pošta prepares the applicable electronic declaration; do not add it twice. These amounts do not bind another carrier.
10. Follow the verified electronic clearance sequence
Slovenská pošta says it can notify the recipient through its app, email or a postal notice, collect an authorisation and supporting documents, file the declaration and present the parcel to customs. Assessed VAT and customs duty are paid to the Slovak Financial Administration, while the postal declaration service fee is collected under the postal tariff. Match the tracking number and use the official channel named for the actual parcel.
11. Keep complete and specific customs records
Keep the tracking number, exact goods description, quantity, origin, value, currency, shipping cost, weight, invoice, payment proof and any valid IOSS record ready. Slovenská pošta warns that vague descriptions or incomplete documents can cause customs to return the data for correction. Do not mark a commercial purchase as a private gift or change its value.
12. Decide on postal representation before self-clearance
Slovenská pošta permits self-clearance, but its current instructions require the recipient to send the refusal of postal representation no later than 48 hours before the parcel reaches Slovakia. After arrival, the recipient uses the Financial Administration's eCM portal under its registration, eID and qualified-electronic-signature rules. Do not reject representation unless the recipient can complete the official process.
13. Watch the storage deadline and collection rules
The normal storage period is 18 days, counted from dispatch of the notice requesting clearance information, and Slovenská pošta says it may be extended on request up to 90 days. Its current tariff separately lists EUR 5.00 per consignment for each calendar day of temporary-obstacle storage after the 18-day period, so an extension should not be assumed to be free. Personal collection at Slovenská pošta customs-clearance departments ended with effect from 13 April 2026.
14. Understand the customs and VAT bases
The temporary EUR 3 duty is a fixed amount per declared item and is not calculated as a percentage of customs value. Where another duty requires a customs value, Slovenská pošta summarises the customs base as goods value, postage and insurance, while the VAT base includes goods value, postage and any customs duty. The EUR 150 eligibility test instead uses intrinsic value, which generally excludes separately stated transport and insurance costs.
15. Check prohibited, restricted and controlled goods
Slovenská pošta flags weapons, drugs, protected species, cultural objects, counterfeits and other restricted contents, while a carrier can impose additional limits on batteries, liquids, perfumes, medicines, food or plants. Check the actual product and live route before ordering. No declaration wording or carrier name can make prohibited goods lawful.
16. Track the parcel through the official record
A parcel can move through export, line-haul, customs and Slovak last-mile systems under the same or a locally assigned identifier. Use the carrier record supplied for the actual route and Slovenská pošta's official tracking page when it handles the parcel. A customs pause is not itself proof of loss, and a postal estimate is not a guarantee for the complete Hipobuy delivery.
17. Avoid parcel-payment phishing
Slovenská pošta warns that fake messages commonly request delivery or customs payments and missing personal data. It tells customers not to enter sensitive information through links in unsolicited messages and says it does not request delivery payments by email or SMS. Open the official site or app independently and match the shipment identifier before acting.
18. Save the quote and delivered-cost evidence
Keep the selected items, QC photos, packed weight, dimensions, packaging choices, route name, tracking, shipping quote, tax record and any import-payment breakdown together. This makes it possible to distinguish product cost, international shipping, VAT, customs duty and a postal or courier service fee. It also gives you better inputs for a future Slovakia parcel.

Destination FAQ
Common Slovakia shipping questions
How much is Hipobuy shipping to Slovakia?
There is no single fixed Slovakia price. The live total depends on packed weight, dimensions, route, postcode, product restrictions, service level and current surcharges. Use the calculator for a planning range, then confirm the live Hipobuy quote before payment.
How long does Hipobuy shipping to Slovakia take?
Use the current route estimate shown for the exact parcel. Seller, warehouse, rehearsal, export, customs and Slovak last-mile time are separate stages. A Slovenská pošta delivery or clearance estimate is not a guarantee for the complete Hipobuy delivery.
Is Slovak import VAT always 23%?
Not always. Slovakia has a 23% standard rate and reduced 19% and 5% rates for listed goods and supplies. However, imports taxed under the special arrangement in section 68cb use 23%, so the applicable rate depends on both the goods and the VAT procedure.
How much does Slovenská pošta charge for a low-value declaration?
The tariff reviewed on 30 July 2026 lists EUR 3.20 for an automated Level III declaration and EUR 5.00 when Level II manual intervention is required. These are Slovenská pošta service fees, not VAT or customs duty, and they do not apply to every carrier.
Can I clear a Slovak postal parcel myself?
Slovenská pošta allows self-clearance, but it requires refusal of postal representation no later than 48 hours before arrival. The recipient must then use the Financial Administration's eCM portal and meet its registration, eID and qualified-electronic-signature requirements.
How should I enter a Slovak delivery address?
Use the full recipient name, street and house number, apartment detail where needed, five-digit postcode in XXX XX format, municipality or delivery-office locality and Slovakia. Put the phone number in the separate contact field when requested, and verify the postcode and locality combination.
